Raise the Bar Rewrite

Raise the Bar Rewrite

Big news for all of our users: RTB is starting fresh!

We have been working on Raise the Bar steadily for a little over 3 years now, and have come a long way in the process. Then in December, we felt as though we hit a wall with our production process. Bugs were getting harder to fix and new features were becoming increasingly more difficult to implement.

With that in mind, we made the decision to rewrite the app in it’s entirety. And while we’re at it, we’re redesigning everything too! I know it probably seems like a large undertaking, and it definitely is. But in the past 3 years, both Dmitriy and I have grown a lot. His development skills are off the charts, and I’ve been able to learn significantly more about UI/UX design (and finally switched from Photoshop to Sketch)! Basically, we’ve both come a long way, and even though RTB has too, we had to scrap some things and restart!

So here we are.

Raise The Bar - Android Home Screen

(simplified RTB for Android)

We've honestly got quite a bit done so far. If I had to guess, I'd say we're roughly 85% designed and 75% developed. We're even including some new features like Alarms and Notes (more on those in future posts). At the same time, we're weeding out the lingering bugs like Repeatables not always resetting your bar, monthly stat visuals, and Deadlines not changing dates (or doing much of anything really).

Let's be real. We've been behind on iPhone for 3 years now, and honestly, we'll continue to be behind for a liiiittle bit longer. BUT! We're REALLY hoping to have something fairly substantial to release in April. Something that can at least closely resemble the features and usability of our Android version.

Looking Forward

You're probably wondering...will there be anything left to work on after we wrap up this HUGE update? Don't fret friends, we've got lists upon lists of upcoming content, most likely starting with finishing our backup/sync feature that we spent 4+ months working on last year. Then we can develop at least one new bar type that we've been theory-crafting. And possibly some other simple but super useful features that I'll be blogging about.

TL;DR - Lots to come. Stick with us.
Please be patient with afewguys, and definitely be excited! :)
